Back Pain and Disc Injuries
If you have low back pain we can help. Dr. Toomey utilizes a variety of techniques to help alleviate your pain and get you back to your activities as soon as possible.
One such technique is flexion-distraction and decompression of the spine. It helps to increase intervertebral disc height and essentially re-align the spine by restoring joints to their proper physiological relationships of motion.
Flexion distraction is a well-documented and proven effective technique for decompressing spinal nerves and treating low back pain related to joint injuries and a variety of disc injuries such as herniations, bulging discs or degenerative changes of the disc. It is a gentle, non-surgical procedure that helps the spine heal properly and keeps it as pain-free as possible. This technique can also be utilized for conditions of the cervical spine (neck).
We also use spinal manipulation utilizing a variety of techniques, and spinal stabilization exercises to strengthen injured soft tissue and reduce the likelihood of re-injury.
